§ 9401. Definitions
In this chapter:
- (1) The term “act of international terrorism” has the meaning given that term in section 14 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 ( Public Law 104–172 ; 50 U.S.C. 1701 note).
- (2) The term “appropriate congressional committees” has the meaning given that term in section 14 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 ( Public Law 104–172 ; 50 U.S.C. 1701 note).
- (3) The term “foreign person” means a person that is not a United States person.
- (4) The term “Iranian person” means—
- (A) an individual who is a citizen or national of Iran; or
- (B) an entity organized under the laws of Iran or otherwise subject to the jurisdiction of the Government of Iran.
- (5) The term “IRGC” means Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
- (6) The term “knowingly” has the meaning given that term in section 14 of the Iran Sanctions Act of 1996 ( Public Law 104–172 ; 50 U.S.C. 1701 note).
- (7) The term “United States person” means—
- (A) a United States citizen or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence to the United States; or
- (B) an entity organized under the laws of the United States or of any jurisdiction within the United States, including a foreign branch of such an entity.
